Ventricular fibrillation/Brugada-like ST segment elevation: First presentation of subarachnoid hemorrhage
نویسندگان
چکیده
Brugada syndrome is an autosomal dominantly inherited channelopathy estimated to be responsible for 4e12% of all sudden deaths, particularly among middle-aged men. It is characterized by ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads, in the absence of acute coronary syndrome. This report discuses a patient with subarachonoid hemorrhage who developed the characteristic electrocardiographic features of Brugada syndrome. Copyright © 2016, Indian Heart Rhythm Society. CARDIAC ELECTRICAL DYSFUNCTION IN ACUTE BRAIN LESIONS
This study briefly reviews the heart abnormalities in diverse intracranial pathologies, including strokes, spontaneous and traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracranial hemorrhage, and presents the results of a one-year prospective study of heart abnormalities in patients with moderate to severe head injuries and subarachnoid hemorrhage. Different abnormalities such as: QT -interval, T...
متن کاملLambda-like ST segment elevation in acute myocardial infarction - a new risk marker for ventricular fibrillation? Three case reports.
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is responsible for almost 50% of all cardiac deaths in the U.S. The most common underlying cause of SCD is coronary artery disease, especially acute myocardial infarction (AMI). There are no publications concerning the shape of ST segment elevation in AMI and the risk of ventricular fibrilation (VF) or SCD. We present three cases with AMI and atypical ST segment eleva...
متن کاملBrugada syndrome-like ST-segment elevation increase exacerbated by vomiting.
The patient was a 53 year-old male who had 3 syncopal episodes over a 6-month period. In the electrophysiological study, ventricular fibrillation (VF) was repeatedly induced by the ventricular extrastimulus method. Intravenous pilsicainide was administered, and the J-point and ST-segment in the right precordial leads became slightly elevated just following drug administration. Five min later, t...
متن کاملArrhythmias in patients with Brugada-type electrocardiographic findings.
Brugada syndrome is characterized by marked ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads (Bru-ECG) and is associated with a high risk for sudden death. However, it is unclear whether the arrhythmogenesis is caused by the mechanisms responsible for Bru-ECG. The present study investigated the risk of arrhythmias in patients with Bru-ECG by retrospectively analyzing 30 patients (28 men; mean...
متن کاملSudden Cause of Cardiac Death—Be Aware of Me: A Case Report and Short Review on Brugada Syndrome
Introduction. Brugada syndrome accounts for about 4% of sudden cardiac deaths (SCD). It is characterized by an ST-segment elevation in the right precordial electrocardiogram (EKG) leads. Case Presentation. We describe a 39-year-old healthy Caucasian man who was admitted to the intensive care unit after being cardioverted from ventricular fibrillation (VF) arrest. His past history was significan...
